|9/27/2021||Zion Williamson, NOP, PF|
|Pelicans basketball operations chief David Griffin says Williamson is recovering from offseason surgery to repair a broken metatarsal in his right foot but could be available for the start of the regular season.
Analysis: Griffin says the injury occurred on a basketball court while Williamson was working out on his own this summer. The forward's ''rehab has been done totally in lockstep with the organization, and we're happy with that,'' Griffin says. Coach Willie Green says Williamson is working out primarily in swimming pools for the time being to minimize stress on his healing foot, but he should be back on the court during the preseason.
|9/24/2021||Patrick Williams, CHI, F|
|Williams sustained a significant left ankle sprain during an optional workout on Sept. 15. The Bulls announced that the second-year forward will likely miss 4-to-6 weeks, which puts his availability for the start of the season in doubt.
Analysis: The Bulls will likely start the season without two of their promising young players in Williams and Coby White, who underwent shoulder surgery in June and isn't expected back until November. Williams, the No. 4 overall pick of the 2020 draft, averaged 9.2 points and 4.6 rebounds per game as a rookie.
